Do you want a three-year plan? Do you work in the media and entertainment industry (or wish you did)? Are you in search of a superpower?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, the SkillUP: (EM)Power Your Career workshop at NAB Show New York is for you.
The three-hour interactive empowerment session will be led by Evan Shapiro.
“The main purpose of the workshop is to offer empowerment to those who participate and to give them singular purpose and focus in the face of the career chaos many face now,” explains Shapiro.
Participants will be given tools to navigate the current “media maelstrom” and discover their “innate superpowers” in the name of charting a tailored and sustainable career.
First, Shapiro will lead attendees through a meaning-making exercise. Participants will determine why they want to pursue certain goals and set priorities accordingly.
Next, they will assess their unique selling proposition, or what Shapiro calls a “superpower.” Attendees will learn how to leverage this in their careers.
Everyone needs a three-year plan, but chunking it out into attainable goals is crucial to long-term success. Shapiro will lead an exercise to help attendees plot out the next 90 days of their careers.
Attendees will also learn why they should treat their LinkedIn like the front-of-house of a restaurant. During a collaborative exercise, attendees will expand their own profiles from basic bio to fulsome brands.
The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
