NAB Show New York attendees are encouraged to “explore the synergies between live broadcast and cinema” through Cine+Live Lab.
This destination features a variety of educational sessions and production demonstrations centered on the trend of translating cinematic techniques to live broadcast productions. All sessions and demos are open to all-access badge holders, but off-site bonus programs may require prior registration.
A few of the Cine+Live Lab highlights have announced as of early August:
At noon on Wednesday, Oct. 25, NAB Show New York will feature a session focused on the color pipeline. Color Accuracy: From On Set to Post will feature colorist Warren Eagles in conversation with AbelCine Camera Technology Specialist Geoff Smith.
At 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Hybrid Broadcast in the Real World will explore use cases and projects involving a blended broadcast-cinema aesthetic and tools at top tech conferences. AbelCine Director of Rental will moderate this conversation.
Also on Wednesday, check out the latest in the HBO Camera Assessment Series. The project aims to determine the “most appropriate capture system for their productions” at HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery. Submit your RSVP here to attend the free off-site event. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the 4:30 p.m. screening at the New York Warner Bros. Discovery offices, located at 30 Hudson Yards. NAB Show New York will then host a hands-on follow-up to the HBO CAS on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. Participants will have the chance to see the real-life results of the lenses and camera systems tested, which will include: the ARRI Alexa Mini, SONY Venice 2, RED V-Raptor, Blackmagic Ursa 12K, ARRI Alexa 35 and KODAK 5219 Film.
The final Cine+Live Lab offering is Cinematic Lighting: The Cinematographer & Gaffer Relationship, scheduled for Thursday at 2:45 p.m. This conversation will feature a DP and a gaffer discussing the significance of effective lighting to cinematic productions.
